My Pilates Style
Matwork Pilates is a type of therapeutic exercise designed to improve posture, movement and muscle activation, resulting in optimal function of the body. Originally, Pilates consisted of 34 classical movements which were founded by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. I teach a modified Pilates style, with more of a focus on physiotherapy, pain prevention and rehabilitation. Benefits of Pilates includes management of back or pelvic pain as well as improvement of posture, balance and core strength. Furthermore, Pilates is a safe and enjoyable method of exercise.

What To Bring to Pilates Class
-
Please wear any clothing which you feel comfortable to move in.
-
Head cushion. Any sofa cushion can be used to support head and neck but if you are planning on continuing with Pilates I recommend you invest in two 1" Plates head cushions and bringing them to the class. This will allow you to create a neutral spine.

Equipment List
I have attached links to APPI products which I would recommend for home practice. The only product which you will need for class is the 1" head cushion.

1" Head Cushion
I recommend you purchase two of these head cushions to allow you to create a neutral spine. You can also use these head cushions to protect your pelvis in lying exercises.
